November 2021 Newsletter

Dear Early Music fans,

Happy Halloween! Our pumpkin is out but no trick-or-treaters yet. I hope you are all doing well. We are still hopeful that we will be able to meet in person again in the next few months. And we are planning to have a Spring or Summer Party since the traditional Winter Party doesn’t seem to be possible.

Please note that we will be sending links to SRS members this time. It’s a joint meeting with our San Francisco friends, so if you are an SFRS member you are also good to go! We currently have 16 members and I am once again attaching a membership form. If you’ve been procrastinating, it’s time to get going on this!

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone on November 17th. It should be a great meeting!

New Recorder Shop in Portland, OR

Hello recorder friends!

Recently, you may have received a mailing from Katze at Blockfloetenshop.de announcing a partnership with a new recorder shop in the US. That new webshop is http://www.recorderforge.com and is based in Portland, Oregon. My name is Jamison Forge, owner and operator of the Recorder Forge. It is my goal to bring you fast, friendly service, while providing easier access to hard to get brands such as Paetzold by Kunath, FEHR, and many others.

Being located in the US, I am able to provide great service with Katze, but also keep a good stock of sought after instruments close to home. I keep a full compliment of Paetzold basses from tenor to Sub Great bass IN STOCK so I can get the instruments in your hands quickly. I want to bring these new brands and fun instruments to my customers in weeks rather than months, and the full range is available at http://www.recorderforge.com.

Thank you all for supporting the recorder world with your playing, and I greatly look forward to working with you on all of your recorder needs. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about the new shop, or the services we provide. I am best contacted by e-mail, but will always return or schedule a phone call when needed.

Welcome to the Recorder Forge!!!

October 2021 Newsletter

We are sad not to be able to meet in person this month, but so happy to be conducted by Glen Shannon, an SRS favorite!  Please note that music will be sent to all recent SRS members, please disregard the previous message.  Do please join, if you haven’t already.  The board would also like to ask that you think about friends who might enjoy SRS.  We’d be happy to have them join us on October 5th, just let us know who they are and what their email address is.  The more the merrier!

Dear Early Music Friends,

Here’s the latest. We do have one final meeting with the San Francisco Recorder Society on June 16th at 7:30 pm conducted by James Chaudoir. Plan to arrive a little early so as to iron out any internet glitches before the meeting starts. Looking forward to next season and some summer music making!

April 2021 Newsletter

Dear Early Music Friends,

Here it is! Please note that the SRS Board will be meeting this Thursday. I am hearing from various sources that some early musicians are enjoying the access to more conductors via Zoom. Please let us know if you might be interested in having a chapter meeting or two continue to be by Zoom as the rest of our meetings start up again in person.

See you on the 21st! Patty Johnson, SRS newsletter editor
