Zoom classes with Tish Berlin in October

I hope you can join me for classes in October. To register, please scroll to the bottom of this message to find the registration form and information on how to pay.

You may enroll for as many or as few classes as you wish.

1. Magnifying Glass on Ensemble Skills IV

10:00 am – 11:30 am Pacific/1:00 pm – 2:30 pm Eastern.
October 12 and 19, 2021
Take both or just one. Each individual class is $25.00. Participation in previous Magnifying Glass on Ensemble Skills classes is not a prerequisite for enrolling in this class.

This class will focus on rhythm skills, especially those in Medieval and Renaissance music. You’ll play along with me on duos, and with my GarageBand recordings of 13th-, 14th-, 15th-, and 16th-century motets, chansons, tenor lieder, and madrigals.

October 12: 13th- and 14th-century motets from the Montpellier Codex and chansons by Machaut

October 19: 16th-century madrigals and tenor lied by Arcadelt and Isaac

Geared to intermediate players but all who would like to develop stronger rhythmic skills are welcome. The difficulty level of the music is a bit harder each week. Pitch: A=440.

2. Italian Madrigals

1:30 pm – 3:00 pm Pacific/4:30 – 6:00 pm Eastern. Take both or just one. Each individual class is $25.00.

This class will focus on four major madrigal composers of the 1500s, spanning the early decades to the later part of this century that laid the groundwork for the birth of the Baroque.

October 12: Works by Verdelot and Arcadelt

October 19: Works by Monteverdi and Wert

For upper intermediate to advanced instrumentalists. Play-along recordings will be on recorders at 4-foot pitch, an octave higher than viol and dulcian consort so those instruments may want to play lower parts. Pitch: A=440.
