Hi fellow SRS members,
Whether it’s practicing on your own, or attending online meetings and classes, or actually getting together with friends to play music, I hope everyone has been able to have fun with their music this summer. I’ve attached an email from Greta in which she invites all of us to participate in a free Zoom meeting on Wednesday, June 17th at 7:30 PM, hosted by the San Francisco chapter of ARS. I participated in their first one back in May and it was fun! I’m sure you’ll have a good time participating in this one, so if you’re up for it, connect Greta as per her information below.

Dear Recorder Fans,
Last month, the San Francisco Recorder Society held its first “virtual” chapter meeting. From my own perspective and from responses we received from several who attended the meeting, it went very well, and we want to do it again. During summer months, SFRS is conducted by chapter members, and for our June meeting, Jay Kreuzer has agreed to be my co-conductor. Together we will present music for you to play “with” the chapter from the comfort of your own studio.
The meeting will be held on Zoom at our previously scheduled date and time: Wednesday, June 17 at 7:30 PM (PDT).
At the suggestion of an East Bay friend who joined our meeting in May, this invitation is being extended to all Bay Area chapters (chapter leaders, please share this message with your membership). The link, along with helpful hints for using Zoom and PDFs of the music, will be sent to those who ask to join the meeting. We expect to have all of the materials ready by Monday, so please write to me as soon as possible if you’d like to participate and you will be added to the meeting roster.
Note: although you can use Zoom through your browser, it will function much more efficiently if you first download the current version of the Zoom app. https://zoom.us/download
If you are new to Zoom, here is link to a helpful (and brief) tutorial on how to join a meeting: Joining a Meeting
This online option is hardly a substitute for meeting at Christ Church Lutheran to be directed by top professionals and enjoying the generous hospitality of Pastors Tom McQueen and Lyle Beckman. We eagerly await the time we can return to in-person playing.
I sincerely hope this message finds you and your loved ones all in good health and virus free! I’m looking forward to hearing from you, then seeing you on Zoom on Wednesday!
