Rotem Gilbert Workshop

The East Bay Chapter of the American Recorder Society invites you to their fall workshop Cantate Domino

Saturday, Oct 14, 2017 • 10:00 am – 3:45 pm
St Alban’s Episcopal Church, 1501 Washington, Albany

In this workshop we will focus on music by Hamburg composer Hieronymus Praetorius (1560-1629) and his German contemporaries, Michael Praetorius, Johann Vierdanck, and Heinrich Schütz. Cantate Domino by H. Praetorius is one of his last motets and is set for eight voices in “modern” double choir. His Verbum Caro for seven voices is more Renaissance in style. We will orchestrate it for singers, soft winds, viols, brass, and reeds. Plucked instruments are also welcome.
